Shaklee Distributor Guidelines

Although frustrating for distributors, there are valid reasons why Shaklee does not permit use of company and product names in Internet marketing. There is potential for liability if product claims and disclaimers are not properly presented. What if other distributors made false claims and raised public controversy? The result would be bad for everyone.

It is possible to have a robust site that complies with the distributor agreement. Distributors should promote themselves and their own expertise rather than merely repeating the Shaklee name and citing products. On your “Real” site, after you share your personal expertise and endorsements, you place buttons that link your visitors to the corresponding Shaklee PWS page. You accomplish your objective without breaking any rules.

  1. You said..."What if other distributors made false claims and raised public controversy? The result would be bad for everyone."

How about training people properly not to make these types of claims?

Having these silly rules is simply being lazy.

I can tell you from experience that you flat out will NOT accomplish the same objective using a replicated site as you would using the Internet to it's fullest extent.

  2. Thank you for your candid comments. I agree if you could freely use the Shaklee name and product collaterals, you would be exercising, as you said, "the Internet to it's fullest extent." You could extensively market Shaklee as well as yourself. Currently, this is not a viable reality.

There are other problems bigger than training. In a perfect world, everyone would follow the rules. Prisons are filled with people who don't. When I ask my clients, whether corporate or Shaklee distributors, they ultimately admit that their greatest desire is to have an advantage over their competition.

Distributors that aren't web savvy are already frustrated. A sizable percentage of those most web savvy will stop at nothing to be on top. I wish it were Shaklee being lazy about training. To remain a MLM infrastructure, Shaklee realizes that the future of the company hinges on their silly rules. They must keep the playing field level to retain distributors or abandon MLM to survive.
